Lauren Boebert, a sitting member of the US Congress, recently exploded at a former Twitter executive for allegedly shadow-banning her account.  During a hearing in front of the US Congress, Boebert accused the former executive, Mr. Roth, of suppressing her account for a tweet about Hillary Clinton. The congresswoman claimed that Twitter staff had placed a 90-day visibility filter on her account that excluded her from top searches, prevented notifications for non-followers, and more. According to Boebert, the suppression of her account was a clear example of election interference and censorship by the big tech platform. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Congresswoman from Georgia, recently dropped the hammer on former Twitter executives over her ban from the social media platform. In her speech, she accused the company of violating her First Amendment right to free speech and interfering with her campaign.  According to her, her Twitter account was permanently banned on January 2nd, 2022, and was not reinstated until November 21st, 2022, after her election. This resulted in her being unable to use her account to advertise her campaign, raise money, and communicate with her constituents. Greene also accused Twitter of being biased towards Democrats, as over 98% of Twitter employees reportedly donate to the Democratic Party. The criticism was over Musk's plan to charge users $8 a month to verify their accounts. Musk posted a tweet yesterday with a photo of a sweatshirt sold on the New York Democrats' website for 58 dollars. AOC fired back, saying that her workers are in a union and make a living wage, and proceeds go to, quote, "community investments" like tutoring kids. Ocasio-Cortez delighted in the fact that Musk lashed out at her, saying, quote, "We have a billionaire." That's the American dream right there. The highly coveted blue check mark was once reserved for public figures, celebrities, and politicians. The company's new CEO, Elon Musk, is hoping to monetize verification as part of a much larger change in the platforms of Twitter, a blue subscription service. So now users who are already verified have 90 days to sign up before they lose their "blue checkmark.  GETTR CEO Jason Miller said: "No charge for verification or post-editing on GETTR! 🤣 From The Verge: "Twitter is planning to start charging $20 per month for verification."
