Jen Psaki responds to a question about Vice President Kamala Harris and CDC guidance during a White House Press Briefing. A press reporter asked, Why Kamala Harris Is At Events after her Husband Douglas Emhoff Tested Positive For Covid.

Reporter: With the Second Gentleman, Douglas Emhoff testing positive this week, Why did Vice President Kamala Harris appear today? I understand she wasn't asked but in an event with other people around when student CDC guidance is currently that people who have been exposed should stay home and not interact with others for 5 days well she is fully boosted.

Jen Psaki: I don't actually believe that's an accurate description of CDC guidance of having a close contact we obviously all have had close contacts here and you are tested at a regular and she is abiding by that all right thanks. John just to kind of follow up on that, Psaki asked John to ask questions.

Reporter: A bit on COVID19 is one of the reasons, Why the Biden-Harris administration is not going to be extra cautious with the President, the Vice President even though there is a national security issue around us in part to kind of lead by example for Americans. To say you can get back to living your everyday lives and you shouldn't be concerned that even if you get exposed to somebody just briefly you shouldn't freak out about that you don't need to test a bunch of times is that basically the dynamic that you are trying to say even though if the President 79 years old president of the united states were to get COVID might be more serious than you know somebody in their 20s.

Jen Psaki: We don't know that, but we also know that COVID impacts people of all ages and a range of but we take what we do here Jen is not exactly as you said so I wouldn't agree with your description, there I would say we do take extras precautions including individuals who are around the president being tested that goes over and above of course he is the president of the united states. So we do take those additional steps and we of course abide by what the recommendations and advice are of his medical doctor and if that would be to do increased testing we would certainly do that but he does not feel that that is necessary at this point in time based on these recent contacts.
