Governor Ron DeSantis Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signs new tax relief legislation in the wake of Hurricane Ian. On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order in Tallahassee, approving tax relief for those affected by Hurricane Ian. The massive storm caused billions of damage in Florida, and its anticipants mobilized and coordinated recovery efforts. The emergency tax legislation, stating that it will help ease the economic burden in the wake of the deadly hurricane, was also praised by DeSantis. DeSantis signed Executive Order (EO) 22-242 to suspend deadlines for payment of property taxes in counties that have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. The Executive Order extends to real property including personal homes and commercial property that was destroyed or otherwise rendered uninhabitable. The EO can be found here .
